Ruthless Fae (Zodiac Academy #2) by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

Themes: New Adult, Fantasy Romance

The synopsis

The Celestial Heirs think the stars are on their side. But they don’t know what’s coming. Fighting them one on one isn’t an option so we have to be stealthy. Remaining under the radar won’t be easy, but if we pull it off, they’ll never suspect our involvement when their lives start falling apart.

Besides, they’ve already taken us to the brink of hell, what more can they really do?

The review

Have I found a new favourite series? Perhaps… probably even.

As you can guess from this intro, I was not disappointed by the sequel to Zodiac Academy – The Reckoning that I read… was it last month?

I felt the pace was better in the sense that there were less repetition, more settings and new things going on apart from the bullying. We are also introduced to new characters, all very different and notably we finally meet the Council. The relationships are also developing, becoming more complex.

The girls are finally taking things into their hands and I loved how they are using their wickedness and human upbringing to avenge themselves for what the Heirs did to them in the first book. I still prefer Tory but Darcy is becoming more tolerable as if she is finally growing up. I especially liked her relationship with Orion.

But the real element of surprise was Geraldine. I really didn’t like her in the first book but here my, my! I loved her loyalty to the Vega sisters and her unexpected, funny and totally over-the-top vocabulary.

In brief: what can I say apart from this sequel was very good and I can’t wait to read the next books?

My rating: 3.5/5
